Desperate Alliances Round 8

Bull Tribes

Image

A concentrated rain of crossbow bolts killed off a furbeast and wounded Miranda.

The icons then started bellowing and grunting in an attempt to convince their god to aid them in this struggle. The dice rolls would decide how well their attempt turned out...

Image

Bloody H- !!! If you've been feeling the urge to shout out 'oh ffs!' for some time now, this is your opportunity.

Image

The shadows began to amass as the sky began to rumble, even the icons' raw voices dying away against the noise...

Image

The Great Bull had answered the call of his followers! His mere presence alone kicked all the remaining Bulls into a berserk-like rage.

Image

But the sergeant still managed to behead the heavy with his reaction from last turn. However, the Chieftain could still strike...

Image

And missed.

Image

Twice. Luckily for him the sergeant's counter stranded on his armour.

Image

The general suffered a hit when the bodyguard he was fighting countered even though the Warlord gave the example: he hit Cales back (one HP down).

Warlord: "Cales! Fight better!"

Image

Both combatants missed in this fight as well.

Image

The last axeman managed to clear the Crocthulu out of the way with a mighty stroke.

Image

So far the rage his presence had instilled hadn't helped his followers much, but the tribal deity was steadily closing in on the mortals...

Imperials

Image

Cales: "Don't laugh too soon, friend, I will now transform my sword into-"

Image

"Oh you have GOT to be kidding me!" (practically everyone else missed so I didn't bother to pose and picture them again)

Image

Sharlena attempted to cast a spell on the nearest of the approaching swordsmen, but missed.

Image

She realized they stood little chance in close combat.

Image

The cannons opened fire for what could have been the last time, but the gunners found it difficult to fire them alone and in their haste they missed.

Image

In the back a missed shot did tear apart the Pumpkin.

Image

The knight charged and killed one of the crossbowmen before he could do more harm.

Dwellers

Image

The Dwellers realized their time was nearly at an end but still made themselves count: the unarmed Furbeast somehow managed to destroy an icon.

Image

Miranda fired, but her bolt got stuck in the last Heavy's visor. So close!

Image

*Thud*

Image

*Thud* Perhaps they should have brought heavier weapons.

Undead Vanguard

Image

The necromancer and his bodyguards entered the ruins, and the necromancer appeared to enter trance, beginning a strange ritual...

Image

The ranged undead remembered they had a vendetta and killed the water demon on the tower.

Image

The greater skeleton moved closer to the fray and fired his head gem, but hurt no one.

Image

Miranda turned around and drew her dagger as her ranger senses caught someone rushing her from behind.

Image

She parried well but the necromancess' strike was so murderous it still slashed right through her (she rolled two crits).

Knights of Kerrat

Image

Realizing the danger they were in Garth and Skaie rushed over the river and threw what weapons they could find: the Water Demons' javelins.

Image

One fell short, the other impaled a shade who sacrificed himself so his master could resume his work uninterrupted. The sniper fired in reaction.

Image

Garth and Skaie defended themselves with their shields, but it was the lieutenant the shot was aimed at.

Image

He defended himself with his shield, grinning his typical grin and increasing his chances of winning this battle's MVP award.

Water Demons

Image

The first swordsman reached the gunner, who defended himself with his pole (a random object) and narrowly survived.

Image

The others sprinted and reached Sharlena, but couldn't attack her yet.

Image

Blackpants armed himself with crossbow and quiver. There was a lot of killing to be done still and it couldn't hurt to be prepared.

Image

He then moved on and Wrynn's body was looted anew.

Image

Fat Olaf scrambled up from the ground and reached for his sword.

Image

He charged with his horn like Blackpants had done and struck the Greater Skeleton.

Image

Destroying it.

Image

Olaf's heroic feat went towards attacking once more: he succeeded but rolled very poorly on his damage roll.
