Power Play Turn 5

The epic conclusion...

Rescue Force:

Archers moved closer, those who're in range fired at Deadlock. No damage was done. Jean-Francois inspires his spearmen with extra actions!

They ran to the machine, one knocked Deadlock over, while the other attempted a feat of strength...

... and successfully forced the chamber open, freeing the shaky and rambling Von Brag.

'father... mother... no... NO!!!'

Those who cannot hit Deadlock fired at the machine, ruining it's barrel.

Deadlock:

Deadlock hacked the pesky spearman in half.

'Well, you may have defeated me this time, but I won't make your victory that easy!' said Deadlock as he set the ruined contraption to self-destruct.

Then he departed.

Orks:

Two boyz attempted to hijack the warmachine.

One failed while the other killed a crewman.

CannonTroll blasted the ranks of the swordsmen, killing 3.

Archers fired point blank, but didn't dealt too much damage.

Berserkers killed 2 more swordsmen.

The rest pushed their attacks, but only 2 peasants died.

Imperials:

Destroying everything in 18 inches. Mostly orks, due to the positioning.

The surviving greenskins were quickly killed.

Epilogue:

Vit-vit! Allons-y! - said Jean Francois as they fled form the field...

Soon the machine exploded.

The Imperials grabbed the artefakt, and Niol, who was barely living, and only the cleric's constant conjuring kept him alive.

Later, at Claymore Keep...

'Excellent! we have one piece!' - said Majisto merrily.
'Yes, but for what price? Both Von Bragstein and Niol are at horrible conditions. Who will lead us now?'

'Well, excuse me...'

'I think I just know a guy.'

ACHIEVEMENT EARNED

Conclusion of the fight:

Deadlock (Warhead)
Objective: survive for 5 rounds (done), kill rescue force (failed).
Minor Defeat

Rescue force (Bragallot)
Objective: rescue von Bragstein, and thus thwart Deadlock's plan (done).
Major Victory

Imperial Team (led by Niol) (Moronstudios)
Objective: Defeat the orks, get the artifact (done). Niol should survive (failed).
Minor Victory

Orks (led by Kensai) (SnakMittens)
Objective: Defeat Imperials, get the artefact. Kensai should survive (failed).
Major Defeat

Phew, that was close. Niol blew himself up right after I saved him - doh!

Well, I must say that was nowhere as good as the last battle, simply because we all knew it would end on Turn 5 whatever happens. Oh, and the new ruler still looks the same and should have a name like Kiol or something.

I fear it's simply Fabio who somehow made it back. To cut a long story short: we're doomed.

Haha, you know, it occurred to me very early on to just order von Brag butchered right at the start but that would have been so very PandoraDouche. I do have issues about Initiative but I just couldn't think up anything awesome enough to overcome the disadvantage. Bahh! I would have done it too, if it weren't for those pesky kids!!!

All that aside though, I sincerely wish to extend a salute of respect to my opponent Brag for his excellent use of what I considered at first to be a very inferior force. He handled his skirmishers intelligently and beat me soundly with his tactics. No mater, he will suffer all the more for it next time... by the way, even though The Machine exploded you forgot to recover the first artefact from it's wreckage. I do hope Zahru takes advantage of this small oversight.

Thanks WH, it was good to be controlling some actual troops again so I wanted to make the most of it. If I'd just used them as squads the Glommox and Corpse Grinder's aoe would have likely killed almost everything before round 4 even began + that would have been boring. Tactical mistakes are forbidden if it's my own skin we're talking about!

I was also happy with my French hero, great addition to the Imperial forces Zahru, can't he assassinate Fabio and take his place?

This one picture right here caused me to say 'Fuck Yah' out loud it felt so good. Excellent job Braga, you saved the day and are a credit to the team.
I had no idea the artifact would do that, and I would have done that anyways if I had known.
