GSL-54 Warthog Gunship

Postby RoC77 » Mon Mar 21, 2011 11:45 am

The 45th Union's newest addition to it's Air/Space Corps. The first gunship of the Union, it more heavily armored & armed than any of it's other flying units other than a starship.

With a crew of a pilot & gunner, it is capable of carrying a squad of troopers in it's carrier.

(I'll switch out these guys with a proper gunner & pilot later)

Or unload them altogether with the carrier!

Yup, it's back is modular!

With technic mounts & a retractable clip!

It can mount much bigger things!

Built a 24 Rocket bomb pod for the Warthog. Got to detail her a bit to break up all the grey.

Jeez, talk about mobilization. Someone stop those peaches before it's too late! :o

Most awesome 45th vehicle yet, Roc, and that's saying a lot.

This is a great looking ship. I like how it can be used to transport the walker even. Nice touch to the design. :D

Now i really want to have the 45th's troops on Ajax, if only because it would raise the amount of awesome a hundred fold.

Thanks, I wasn't even planning on building a gunship, I was just screwing around with the windscreen pieces & ended up with the cockpit (which I love) and went from there. I'm really digging how this turned out, trying to see if I have enough pieces to build another one, I doubt it though, considering, the pieces I had to scavange off to build her.

How the hell did you make such awesome gatling guns?

Oh, HELL yes.

I love how well the whole thing flows together, although the cockpit is probably my favorite part. The miniguns are awesome too -- nobody builds 'em better than the 45th Union. The ability to carry a mech that's almost as big as the gunship itself seems a little unrealistic, but I wish my gunships could carry my mecha into combat like that. Sigh.

Yeah, it almost looked too much for her, but then I realized, that theres a set of lifting thrusters under her for additional lift that just might be enough to carry that big bitch! :D

Oh, there's only one gatling, since there's 6 mk3 missiles to balance her out. I do have another gatling but that's mounted on my AA unit, but if I have enough pieces to make another, that AA is toast!

@ Wingnut, oh, no the gun's arn't my design, I've seen them around on mocpages & brickshelf before.

Only one gatling? Sigh.

You should mount it on the gunship anyway... what do you need AA for when you have these patrolling the skies?

I liked the extra lifting thrusters though. You're good at that sort of detail.

Epic. The engines and cockpit are amazing, although I love the troop bay also.

The cockpit, engines, shape and modular are all amazing, so damn well built!
I agree that it needs some moar dakka. Perhaps rockets pods with less powerful explosives but in bigger number, flares, and an AA/overall turret to pick up pesky targets avoiding the gatling?

Anyways, awesome build Roc :boss:
