The Siege of Starkeep (Round 1)

Round 1

Golden Lions - GeneralOfDeath

Image

The Golden Lions, under influence of something Von B had put in their food, rushed forward. The mage dumbly bumped into a horse. He apparently had to work on his alchemy skills however, for it did little.

Image

Frederick moved a little closer and aimed the mana cannon...

Image

It hit, and only just failed to kill a knight. The defenders have been warned.

Drakhirri - mgb519

Image

Syrchon tried to charge-pierce the horse while the rest of the Drakhirri ganged on it with their swords.

Image

Syrchon fumbled and fell off his horse however, while somehow the men's attacks glanced off the horses' armour.

Cales - Ross_Varn

Image

"Forward! For the Empire!"

Image

"Aren't we fighting for the Kingdom?"

"Oh well, he's probably just being nostalgic. Let's do as he says."

Image

Inspired by Cales' leadership, the guardsmen rushed forward impressively, almost reaching the keep.

Image

They then raised their shields protectively.

Image

Things went a little bit less well with the joust... All of Cales' knights someone managed to miss, and two bodyguards even got themselves killed.

Image

The difference between the odds and the outcome was so great it was painful to look at.

Bulls - Zupponn

Image

The Bulls rushed forward. Their leader Voytek failed to increase their speed, but luckily they were still pretty fast of their own. A volley was loosed...

Image

... and an Iron Grannie and a Dark Wizard fell.

Sir Brockram - FISH!!!

Image

Brockram avoided the frenzy of swords and used the moment's confusion to scale the side of the hill.

Image

There he struck out at the pine tree he found...

Image

The trop flew off, piercing a Drakhirri knight right through the stomache.

Image

"It seems... He just couldn't bear the pine." :csi:

The Evil GM in me says some people are waiting to see what happens to send their orders  A bit unfair perhaps, but this is solved because they're giving up advantage, I suppose. Remember you have 3 days 8)

Just wanted to say, the gore effects are top notch, and bring a tear to my eye. Or is that blood? :?

Hilter - Ham701

Image

"Wir müssen die bluden ausrotten!" (succesful feat)

Image

The rumbling of the cannons passed over the battlefield...

Image

The bull squad was dissolved and knocked away from each other. Damage failed, but the fires from the explosion burnt one Bull to death.

Image

On the other side a guardsman was blasted to pieces.

Image

The dark mages flung their spells, and two more guardsmen fell.

Image

The knights braced the gate, making it a bit more difficult to destroy.

Cassandra - enders_shadow

Image

Cassandra cast a spell, and a faint blackness engulfed the shields of her men...

Image

After a series of very poor rolls, nothing memorable happened in her duel with Cales' final bodyguard.

Image

The former marshal of the Empire was meanwhile in a bit of a tight spot, but he managed to fight his foes off, for now.

Skarr - lawmaster

Image

Skarr focused on his control over the wind element...

Image

A sudden gust of wind knocked over the ladder the Golden Lions were bringing to the wall, and one of the pistoleers was crushed.

Image

All knights began to move for the gate, and re-position.

Image

The apprentices focused on their control over water...

Image

And below a soldier gurgled as water from his own body began to suffocate him

Image

Crossbow fire nailed down two more pistoleers.

Zahru - Zahru II

Image

The Slayer moved closer to the keep and drew his bow, aiming a fine shot...

Image

... which bounced off his enemy's chestplate.

Image

He then swung his axe-on-a-chain to grapple unto the wall...

Image

... But it kinda bounced off. Zahru is not amused.

Image

The waterfalls that supplied Starkeep came from high above in the mountains, from hills no man could climb.

Image

No man, at least...

Image

A storm titan, part of the Kerratian garrison, looked surprised as he spotted the siege.

Image

The titan quickly won over his surprise and prepared for combat.

Secret faction activated: storm titan! Controlled by Paco the Duck Ninja.

Image

Heavy footsteps announced the arrival of yet another titan, however...

Image

Sargus: "What is this failed excuse for a siege? This is a disgrace to the Kingdom! I, the Bloody Giant, will personally set it straight!"

Secret faction activated: Sargus the Bloody Giant! Controlled by heavyfishcannon. (it just struck me what a brilliant nickname that actually is, lol)

The titan is on the evil side? Wish I hadn't sent my orders so soon. :x

Depends on who you see as 'evil' and which titan you mean ;) The blue one is for Kerrat, the red one fights for the Kingdom.

orders in. Nice positioning of the titans, btw. If it was the other way around I would have been in a slightly sticky situation.
