"CITY never sleeps"

Citygroup is one of the largest banking firms in the USA and a major player in the galactic finances market.

Like other major BrikVerse banks, Citygroup is divided into sectors consisting of galactic consumer banking, investment and corporate banking services, and an assets holding company. Its consumer banking services, in addition to its primary function as a depository and loan institution, is one of the largest credit card issuers in the Nehellium Galaxy. Its investment and corporate banking division helps to raise capital, trade securities, manage funds, and provide advice and financial products to institutional clients like companies and governments.

Until the 2004 BrikVerse Financial Krisis, Citygroup was the second-largest company and largest bank by assets held in the galaxy. It took heavy losses during the Krisis, however, due to the catastrophic failure of its mortgages division. This forced the USA government to intervene and bail out Citygroup to prevent its failure in exchange for a large government share in the company, control of the Board of Directors, and restrictions on executive compensation. Citygroup survived the ordeal, albeit weakened, and the government relinquished its control. Citygroup has had to deal with the subsequent new regulations, including the USA's Dud-Frankfurter Act, however. Its lobbyists have worked with other banks to advocate for the latter's repeal.

In addition to the fiasco in G.R. 2004, Citygroup has also come under fire for money laundering, excessive pay for its executives, accounting fraud, and failing USA government bank stability tests.
