Introduction
On the northern side of the Studland Hills stands a mighty Fortress. This strategic position makes it one of the most important fortifications for The Crown. Brikburgh Castle, known for it's colorful architecture and flourishing marketplace, is under siege. Welcome to...

What's a King to Do

This is a forum battle featuring 6 factions, played out largely over the month of January.

  • Brootalz: BrickWarrior.
  • The Bulls: MrPresident.
  • Vikings: Vyron.

Image
Attacking Forces:

Les Leons de Dordogne
Gaspard Lechevallier and his following have arrived at Brikburgh. Many years ago they left the Kingdom of Touraine and set out on a quest, pardonned by their Queen Margaret. Their divine goal is to travel to the Dordogne region and construct the Second Yellow Castle from magikal Yellow 2x2 Briks. Their adventure has been long and full of side-quests. Gaspard is certain that the fellowship is getting closer to their goal, and behold: une tour de couleur jaune vif! Their objective is to deconstruct the Yellow Tower and steal its' briks. The Leons approach the Blue Gatehouse and number 13 in total.
Image

Brootal Warband
Warbaws Skullug Dakkafist commands a large warparty of Brootalz. They've come to brootalize, nuff' said. Their objective is to free the greenskinned prisoner. They approach Market Gate and number 18 in total.
Image

The Bulls
Cedric approached an evil skelemancer from the borderworlds for help in his assault on Brikburgh. The Bulls' objective is to steal valuable goods from the cellars of the Black Keep. They approach the Blue Wall/Yellow Tower and number 11 in total.
Image

Asbjørns Viking Plunderers
Led by Manly Viking Santa, mightiest of elder heroes, who brought presents. The Vikings deconstructed their ship and used its materials to build a Siege Ballista. Their objective is to steal the golden chest from the Kings' chambers on the first floor of the Black Keep. They approach the Lion Gate and number 10 in total.
Image

Dragon Alliance
The mighty Dragon Guard sent forth a dragon rider with its escort. They have called out to their relatives, the Dragon Forest Rangers, for aid. And the rangers have answered. Their objective is to kill Lord Douglas and steal his riches. They approach the Blue Gatehouse/Watchtower and number 13 in total.

Tactical Details
  • Each opposing faction brought with them some resources, represented by physikal briks. A minifig can spend an action to search the stack of resources and retrieve a random object from it - a d6 will decide the usability of said object, ranging from the equivalent of a turd (1) to a bottle of maniac beer (6).
  • On Turn 1, the player may decide to search the resources to find specific items aimed at their siege tactic of choice. For example, the men can look for explosives, ropes, ladders, or giraffes, in order to overcome the castle walls.
  • Peasants and other folk follow mob rule - they tend to listen to orders from anyone, even non-players.

TURN 1

Les Leons de Dordogne
Commanded by Cyberman

Image

3 dudes begin searching their supply stack for valuable resources. The dude in black is looking for the Holy Grail

Image

"Fuck yes! I thought I left you at home!"

Image

The others search for distinct packages - presents for the Crown Knights, neatly giftwrapped ofcourse.

"Are you sure these are the right presents?"
"I guess..."

Image

The 2 valkyries also look for resources. A mini-blokbot and a Manly Santa Day hat are found. Cute!

Image

This fits nicely within Gaspard's plans. The blokbot gets to wear the Manly Santa Day hat, and Gaspard commands it to step forward.

Image

"Bonjour! We come in paix! We have brought you présentes to celebrate Noël, Manly Santa Day, with you! Open ze gates, s'il vous plaît!"

Image

"Oh boy, this is awesome! I thought for a second there you were gonna call my mother a hamster. Come on in!"

(FEAT CRITICAL SUCCESS)

Image

The guardsman lowers a ladder and opens the gates for the Leons. All Leons move to enter the gatehouse in an orderly fashion.

Image

Asbjørns Plunderers
Commanded by Vyron

Manly Viking Santa searches the gift pile for the perfect gift for the nearby tower guard. Something the guard has wanted since he was a child.

Santa uses his supernatural 1d10 of 'Manly Santa Day magik' to bless the search.

Image

It's... a dog!

Image

The tower guard has always wanted a dog.

"Open the gate!" he shouts.

But unfortunately for him and for santa, the gatekeeper is allergic to dogs and refuses to let them in.

Image

Since plan A failed, these two vikings prepare the ballista and aim for the gatehouse.

Image

It's a perfect shot!

Image

The bolt first skewers the allergic guardsman...

Image

And then burries itself deep into the wall of Douglas' home.

Image

3 vikings begin to climb the chain that is now hanging over half the battlefield

Image

Rearview

Image

The other vikings move up

Image

One particularly brutal viking, nicknamed Lunatic Lars, begins hacking away at the gate.

Image

He deals a single point of grinding damage

Image

Brootalz
Commanded by BrickWarrior

Skullug prepares to demonstrate why he has been in the gym so many hours

"HOLD DIS!"

Image

"BAK STRAIT, NEEZ BENT..."

Image

"WHAAAGH!!!"

Image

Skullug destroyes Market Gate in an critically successful heroic feat. The guardsmen are unable to respond as waves of green begin to flood into the castle.

Image

The 2 crossbowbroots open fire on one of the guardsmen. One of them hits, but the bolt glances off the armor.

Image

2 brootalz begin rummaging through the resources. One finds a pair of fancypants, the other uncovers a turd.

Image

Fancypants grant 2x move, so the bannerbrootal leads the way. A squad follows him, using the gate as a ladder up the wall. The other broot is busy wiping shit off his hands on some leaves.

Image

Dragon Alliance
Commanded by Dienekes

Image

The dragon rider commands his mighty beast skywards

Image

Higher and higher the dragon soars. Then a sharp turn to the right, and the beast begins it's descent. The rider locks eyes with the somber soldier in the watchtower, but feels no remorse for him.

Image

Breath of fire, and the top of the tower is engulfed in flames.

The roof catches fire, but the structure remains intact - no fiery debris is sent flying.

Image

The guardsman jumps to his inevitable demise

Image

3 rangers begin searching the pile of resources for things they can use to scale a wall. This does not go too well... One finds a bird, the other a torch. The third uncovers a jaw-jaw, who immediately begins attacking the ranger with a pooppaddle.

Image

While the initial rangers are dealing with the jaw-jaw business, two others have more luck in their search.

One finds a jungle vine, often used for climbing. The other finds a simple yet sturdy cart.

Image

After dealing with the jaw-jaw, these 6 rangers hurry to the wall. The vine is yeeted nicely around a merlon.

Image

The bird rests calmly in a bush

The Dragon Guardsmen push the cart and climb it to try and scale the wall. They come up just short to stab any defenders.

Image

One of the soldiers throws his spear at the defender on the wall, but misses.

Image

As a response action, the defender returns the favor to deadly effect.

Image

The Bulls
Taking orders from Mr. President himself

The skelemancer steps forward and begins channeling his supernatural energy

Image

He uses 3 of his 4 SN dice to conjur a ladder of bone, stretching all the way to the top of the wall.

He'll keep his SN d12 in reserve for defense.

Image

Cedric has plans of his own. He readies his mighty hammer...

Image

And smashes a giant hole in the wall (feat success)

Image

2 Bulls begin climbing the spooky ladder, almost reaching the hilltop.

Image

3 others move into the lower section of the castle - 1 using the narrow gate, 2 using the not-so-narrow breach in the wall.

Image

The halberdier critfails his attack and drops his weapon

Image

He's whacked by the Bulls flail. The weapon is notorious for lacking precision - the defender is unharmed and is only knocked backed.

Image

The cart driver begins to search the Bulls supplies for something dangerous

Image

He finds the rare herb they collected near the skelemancers home. He uses it to create poison-tip arrows for the 2 bowmen.

Image

They both fire at the crossbowman in the tower. One arrow delivers a deadly amount of acid to his face, the other strikes the battlements, causing a section to disintegrate.

Image

This last Bull sees the stack of presents brought by Santa. He commands his horse to speed towards it.

Image

Crown Knights
Commanded by me.

Alderic moves to the edge of the gatehouse and speaks to the Leons

"Oi you lot. You can't come in until you help us deal with these Dragon invaders"

Image

Apparently he makes a compelling argument, as two Leons move to attack the Dragon Guard.

Image

The Ranger is shot dead by the Leon crossbowman

Image

These two then square off

Image

The more colorful of the two weapons strikes true.

Image

This guy has gotten the hang of yeeting spears

Image

The Ranger takes the spear to the helmet, but it's deflected.

Image

The loud clang spooks the friendly bird, and it flies to a nearby treetop.

Image

This knight steps up to employ his favorite defensive tactic - tossing large rocks onto attackers.

Image

But as he moves up to the edge, he finds himself within range of the pike. The Dragon Guardian doesn't hesitate and ends the knight.

Image

One of the knights at Market Gate also readies a rock, to throw at the brootals

Image

*SPLAT*

Image

The other knight attacks one of the climbers. The blow lands, but deals no lethal damage. The brootal is knocked back down though.

Image

Two brave knights step up to halt the brootal invasion

Image

A scrimmage ensues. Two knights in heavy armor with shields and small weapons vs. two brootalz - the one with the large hammer is inactive since he can't swing his weapon. The other has a shield and a medium weapon.

I kept rolling dice until at least one minifig died. This required 5 repetitions of the action sequence...

Image

In the end, a brootal ánd a knight died at the same time.

Image

Another knight immediately steps in to take the place of the fallen soldier in the defensive line

Image

He manages to slay the brootal with the warhammer in one swift blow.

Image

These mounted knights reposition themselves, anticipating a green breach of the Market Gate defensive line.

Image

The liossan knight doesn't like the Bulls very much. He takes a swing but misses.

Image

2 hilltop soldiers move to attack the brootalz on the wall

Image

The 2 other hilltop soldiers engage the Bulls. One of the blows is parried by the shield.

The other knight critfails and slays his comrade. There's a reason these reserves were receiving sword training before all this started...

Image

Sir Duuko uses his sharp ass sword to stab through the gatework...

Image

... and end the ravaging life of Lunatic Lars.

Image

2 knights climb the stairs up the wall and await the viking attackers

Image

Battlemage Luther plucks a flower and places it on the fallen knight

Image

He then uses his supernatural abilities to turn it into an 8vian, a magikal creature with the Medik specialty. The 8vian, taking the form of a crimson snake, begins ker-triage immediately.

Image

The mage then uses his staff to summon another diemon. He spends his SN d4 to create a fiery 4pion. Luther also uses his SN d6 to give it the ability to move ánd attack on the same turn. The 4pion guards the blue wall, awaiting the climbing Bulls.

Image

End of turn 1

TURN 2

Asbjørns Plunderers
Commanded by Vyron

Manly Viking Santa rummages the pile of presents once again. He finds the gift he had instore for the naughtiest boy of them all, the king.

Image

He unpacks it using his Manly Santa Day Spirit SN d10. Inside is... An IG-88 assassin droid.

"ho ho ho motherfucker, time to die"

Image

IG-88 assesses the situation and predicts that the gate must be destroyed before further action can be taken. He launches a grenade from his rifle, destroying the defensive structure.

Image

Manly Viking Santa then calls to the vikings leader, Asbjørn.

"Dear lad, you see, I must be getting ho ho home. The holidays are over and I can feel my Manly Santa Day spirit getting weaker. You'll need to continue this fight on your own."

Image

"Take this awesome helmet, it will grant you my heroic feat for each turn. It'll also inspire your men to redshirt for you"

Image

"HO HO HO"

... and with a big POOF, Manly Viking Santa disappears.

Image

Two vikings yeet their axes at the defender on the wall.

Image

The defender dodges the first, but is struck dead by the second one.

Image

The first viking storms into the castle

Image

He attacks a crown defender. After a few rounds of combat, the defender dies to an Over The Top stab to the gut.

Image

Asbjørn is second through the gates. He decides to use his heroic feat to disarm Sir Duuko.

Sir Duuko, best swordsman in the kingdom, stands no chance on heroic feat territory.

Image

Asbjørn then slays the brave knight

Image

The vikings move up. Two of then manage to climb from the chain onto the wall. IG-88 diverts and climbs the wall, using the commotion to locate his target - the king.

Image

The 2 vikings on the wall head right, climb down, and try to kidnap a peasant.

Image

Hearing their nordic accents, Charles The Not Bald is infuriated. He's had a grudge against vikings ever since one sarcastically kissed his beloved liege, with tongue.

No time to get his horse, he attacks the vikings!

Image

... but poor Charles critfails and stabs the peasant instead.

Image
Cyberman wrote:can't trust the french lmao

Angry with Charles that he just executed their first capture, the vikings decide to murder him in the streets.

The samurai warrior decides to grab a drink.
"Honorable. But stupid. Kampai!"

Image

MEANWHILE

A group of construction workers arrives at the edge of the battlefield...

Image

"What the hell? This isn't according to the schedule! We're supposed to start with the rekonstruktion, right here at this site. Why are these idiots still fighting? Why are they even here!?"

The forewoman calls her manager to discuss the impediments.

Image

Les Leons de Dordogne
Commanded by Cyberman

The Leon hammerer attacks a Dragon Guard swordsman, but critfails and loses the shield. His opponent takes advantage.

Image

This crossbowman tries to take revenge, but jams his weapon.

Image

Two leons enter the gatehouse and explain what is happening outside.

Image

The guards are convinced by the story and rush outside, while the Leons enter the barracks. One inspects the supplies, the other tests the bed.

"Magnifique!"

Image

Big blokbot picks up Small blokbot and lifts him onto the gatehouse

Image

Small blokbot decides to get drunk on guardsman ale

Image

Big blokbot is not amused and climbs onto the gatehouse, reprimanding small blokbot in blokspeak

Image

Big blokbot immediately jumps down from the gatehouse, because he sees magnificent yellow briks downtown. Mr. Samurai is crushed in the process.

Image

This infuriates Sir Alderic, because Mr. Samurai was a guest in this castle. He takes it out on small blokbot.

Image

He then instructs the guard to push off the ladder, as the Leons aren't welcome anymore. The guard does as he is told.

Image

Thus the remaining Leons move to enter the castle via the gate

Image

The front spearman locks in close combat with the defender, but neither deal lethal damage.

Image

Mr. Axe joins the melee but misses his attack

Image

This prompts the second defender to join the skirmish, who only manages to knock back Mr. Axe.

Image

Another Leon swordsman joins in, but critfails

Image

The poor, over-enthusiastic fellow runs himself onto the defenders' spear, deading him.

Image

One of the valkyries then gives it a try. She manages to take out a defender, much to the amusement of her companion.

Image

The Leon who brought the Holy Grail uses the Benny to boost the movement of his squad. They move around the gatehouse skirmish and towards the Dragon Guard, to protect the flank.

Image

Two of them gang up on a Dragon Guardian and take him out.

Image

The second valkyrie engages the classic lookin' DG dude, who clearly has the high ground.

Image

Having the high ground doesn't quite work out - both the valkyrie and DG dude are killed by each other.

Image

The last Leon takes a swing at the DG halberdier, but misses.

Image

MEANWHILE

A sneaky Blacktron Commando is spotted near the yellow tower.

"Operator Schwartz to Blacktron HQ. Intel was correct, there is still pre-rekonstruktion activity at this site. No DSM intervention observed yet. Package has been located, I will begin the extraction. Over."

Image

Dragon Alliance
Commanded by Dienekes

The DG halberdier straight up destroys Holy Grail Pierre

Image

The Dragon Ranger climbs the wall and shoves a defender off the gatehouse.

Image

Second up the wall is Sir Gerhard, who finds himself nicely within range of the heroic Gaspard riding his blokbot.

Image

He misses and strikes the blokbot instead - but the blokbot is undamaged.

Image

Gerhard moves on while two more rangers scale the wall. They take aim at the vikings below.

Image

One kills a viking while the other critfails and drops his weapon.

Image

Last up the wall is the green dragon knight, who challenges Sir Alderic to a duel

Image

But that doesn't end well for him, as he's no match for a heroic swordsman like Alderic.

Image

This ranger tries to coax the bird to drop heavy things on enemies

Image

The bird drops a nice portion of birdshit on the ranger and flies to another tree.

In birdspeak, the animal makes it clear that the ranger should do better than roll 1's.

Image

Lord Dracus commands his fel beast to swoop down and break the viking siege chain. The beast obeys.

Image

The chain snaps, causing he last viking on it to fall.

Image

Dracus then uses his crimson lance to end a viking.

The brave dog begins to growl at the dragon.

Image

MEANWHILE

Gary the janitor looks puzzled.

"I was told to clean up after this battle, in preparation of the rekonstruktion. My lord said we should start BR 2,023 with clean streets. But the battle is still going..."

Image

"I'll just clean a little harder I guess"

Image

Brootalz
Commanded by BrickWarrior

A brootal lancer charges through the carnage to force a breakthrough

Image

The attack doesn't go as planned, but is nonetheless effective. A knight is knocked back but unwounded, and the brootal stumbles into the market square.

Image

But more importantly, the defensive line is broken. Brootalz begin to flood the streets of Brikburgh.

Image

One of the knights in the defensive line attempts to hold off the attackers. He fights a brootal for several rounds - he slays the brootal, but loses his helmet (thus the deflection of his Heavy Armor)

Image

The crossbowbroots try to take advantage, but both miss

Image

This green boi brootalizes a market stand. He commandeers the wares and uses it to construct a pfishkaxe

Image

He takes a swing at the knight... but critfails.

The pfishkaxe proves an unreliable weapon in combat, as the metal component detaches from the organic component.

Image

The pickaxe component flies 11(!) inches, landing outside the walls where it kills a disrupted viking.

Image

2 brootalz with medium weapons attack the mounted knight. The knight dies a cruel death, but bashes a brootal skull in the process.

Image

A brootal slips and falls due to the exceptionally smooth street.

Image

Mr. Fancypants dashes around a defender and ends him

Image

This allows 4 more brootalz to ascend the makeshift staircase safely

Image

One of the attackers flawlessly slays an armored knight

Image

This brootal attempts to perform a aerial deathsmash on the mounted knight

Image

But he trips over the kitten and cracks his skull at the bottom of the stairs - as decided by the fact he critfailed such a difficult action.

Image

This poor brootboy searches the supplies for something to wipe the shit off his hands, and finds...

Image

An even larger piece of shit

Image

Warbawws Skullug takes aim with his giant spear, hoping to end the wizard.

Image

The wizard is just barely missed. The weapon strikes the red window known as the Tribute To 375, destroying it.

Image

The wizard turns around and sees the damage that was done.

"Oh dear lord... that's not good. How I wish that weapon hath struck me and not the Tribute"

Image

RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE

The yellow tower begins to shake and move in it's entirety

Image

It turns around, and speaks.

LUTHER! YOU MADE ME YOUR PRISONER, ABUSING THE IMAGE OF MY ANCENSTOR TO BRAND ME AND CURB MY POWERS. ALL THESE YEARS I STOOD SILENT IN YOUR FORTIFICATION. NO MORE! DEATH TO YOU!

Image

The stucture whips out a giant red sword, connecting to it with nothing but pure yellow brik. It grows even further in size, now towering above the defenders.

Image

It swings the giant weapon and cuts two defenders clean in half, just barely missing the wizard too.

Image

Skullug decides that this was exactly what he meant to do.

Image

The last actionable brootal enters the home of Lord Douglas, where he finds a masked figure. He sees green skin clearly under the white balaclava

Image

"Took ya long enuf! I stole da keyz for da prisonah, lez go!"

The ninjabroot hands the keys to the brootal who just came in.

Image

MEANWHILE

A very rich looking businessman shows up at the edge of the battlefield, with a small police escort.

"What the hell! Why aren't you people doing what you're supposed to do? This battle stops now, it's time to prepare for BR 2,023.
THE REKONSTRUKTION WAITS FOR NOONE!"

Image

The Bulls
Commanded by Mr.President

The bull atop the ladder manages to yoink and kill the 4pion with his axe

Image

Second guy up the ladder swings at the Liossan, but misses.

Image

The skelemancer retrieves his SN dice, disbanding the bone ladder. He joins the men who breached the walls and now face the yellow tower.

Image

He uses his SN dice to bless the 3 attackers with extra strong bones. They get +1d6 armor and +1d6 damage in close combat.

Image

The men know better than to test their superpowers versus a walking tower. They sprint past it, into the castle - that's where the loot is, after all.

Image

One of them finds himself within range of a viking and decides to deliver the first blow. He slays his foe with the help of the skelemancers blessing.

Image

Cedric decides to demonstrate to the tower that he's no fan of the wizard either. He picks up a halberd and prepares to throw it at Luther

Image

He just barely misses

"Yeah I know, but you could clearly see who I was aiming for, right? Right?"

Image

The cart driver decides to search through the resources again. He finds...

Image

A keg of MANIAC BEER

Image

The yellow tower would sure like some of that. It storms at the Bull, grabs him by the legs, and lifts him into the air.

Image

He places the Bull on top of himself.

"LETS DRINK"

The Bull has never had a drinking buddy this awesome. He pours the Maniac Beer right into the loophole.

Image

Skullug is obviously not happy about this

Image

The archers decide to just let their comrade have his alcoholic fun - they sprint around the wall and join their boss.

Image

This bull arrives at the stack of presents from Santa, and grabs the first one that's in reach.

Image

He unpacks it and finds a techbik beam inside.

"..."

Image

MEANWHILE

3 Rock Raiders show up!

"Ehh, are you sure this is the right place?"
"100%. I double checked the coordinates. This is the spot: Chief said to dig a tunnel here, right after the rekonstruktion happened."
"But what about these medieval folks having it out with each other?"
"Don't worry Buccy, I brought a gun."

Image

They immediately get to work on their tunnel, destroying the castle walls.

Image

Crown Knights
Commanded by me

This guard throws his spear at a brootal on the wall

Image

The brootal ends up very dead

Image

The knight then heads down the stairs and asks his mate what the heck is going on.

Image

Together they decide that they should fling a spear at the Jaw-Jaw policeman.

Image

It's quite effective

Image

Sir Alderic engages Gaspard Lechevallier in an epic, heroic duel to the death.

Image

They duke it out over 5 whole rounds of combat: Attacks, parries and counterattacks following each other in quick succession. But in the end, it is Gaspard, battling from atop his blokbot steed, who suffers a lethal blow.

Image

The last man standing in the gatehouse manages to slay one of the Leon attackers.

Image

The last of the Crown defenders over at Lion Gate swings his hammer at Asbjørn

Image

He critfails: mid-swing, the knight suddenly smells delicious roasted chicken and is so distracted that he loses grip on his weapon.

Image

The medik snake 8vian rolls a 1 on its ker-triage - the knight is now deader than ever before.

Image

One of the knights near Douglas' house attacks a brootal invader. He strikes the shield out of his hand.

Image

As a response, the brootal smacks the defender off the wall too.

Image

The other crown knight nearby attacks, but deals no damage

Image

This brave knight at market square deals no damage either.

Image

The mounted knight with the mace wants to smash a broot, but his horse is scared of fish and freaks out.

Image

Luther realizes that the Crowns forces are stretching dangerously thin.

He acts by spending all his SN dice on a super 6creant: a d6 to summon the creature, d4 to add fire damage to the halberd that the creature picks up, d8 for movement and d12 for an armor boost

Image

The creature proves extremely powerful. With one fell swoop of the halberd it destroys 2 Bull warriors who made it to the hilltop.

Image

This horse is spooked because his rider lost his head, so it runs off and almost tramples a viking

Image

The Liossan is pissed at the Rock Raiders who are destroying his training ground, so he swings at Buccy but misses.

Image

Jet fires her blaster but it doesn't do much against the armor

Image

This knight gets up. Still dizzy from his fall, he painfully smacks a civilian instead of killing a brootal.

Image

End of Turn 2

Skullug, Asbjørn, Gerhard, Cedric and the remaining Leons all wonder what they should do next. This battle is clearly spinning out of control. Should they attempt to accomplish their objective and sneak out before armageddon? Or should they embrace this carnage and murder their way towards the end of the brikverse?

TURN 3

Les Leons de Dordogne
Commanded by Cyberman

Yellow blokbot grieves the death of Gaspard by ripping the roof off yellow house

Image

... and seeks comfort in absolutely trashing the place.

Image

The blokbot then yeets a large chunk of yellow brik at Alderic. One of the knights redshirts for him, soaking up lethal damage.

Image

A leon wants to attack the DG halberdier, but he chops off his own hand before he's even in range.

Image

His mate gets more lucky and stabs the foe very dead.

Image

This crossbowman shoots the defender from point black range, but deals 0 damage.

"Seriously dude? At that range?"

Image

The valkyrie manages to disarm the defender. Mr. Axe attacks as well, but loses his weapon. Now he's just Mr.

Image

The axe lands not far away, causing this unfortunate soldier to lose another hand.

Image

...

"Paul, let's get going! Get out of that bed. How about we check out this orange door behind me."
"Oui oui, j'arrive!"

Image

Gaston and Paul are surprised to see that the orange door is not locked. It leads them to the cellars of the Black Keep.

Once there, they find...

Image

QS_Cyberman!

'Hello there. Don't mind me, friends. I'm just running an errand for the... uhm... king!'

Image

The Leons decide to surrender and have a chat with the quantumsurfer.

"Qu'est-ce que tu fais?"

It's a good thing Cyberman is from the netherlands because they teach kids english, german ánd french in school.

After a little chat, Cyberman is astonished by the treatment that the Leons received from Alderic. He decides to help them out.

Image

"Hi there, Alderic. I think you owe your guests from Touraine an apology. In french, please."

"Fuck the French, they're silverdreams!" replies Alderic.

"I had a feeling you were going to say that, grumpy old man. En garde!"

Image

A skirmish ensues atop the Blue Gatehouse, where Alderic sees himself outnumbered by 1.

Image

Cyberman swings his hammer, Alderic parries with his shield. Paul lands a blow with his sword - the golden armor barely holds.

The soldiers in the foreground both critfail - they drop their weapons and instead resort to fistfighting.

Image

Alderic takes a swing, Cyberman parries.

Cyberman and the Leon both attack Alderic again, and the swordsman deflects. In the foreground, the Leon gets the upper hand with an Over The Top wrestle move. He regains control of his weapon and slays his foe.

Image

Alderic swings at Paul, but even the Leon manages to deflect the attack of the heroic swordsman!

Image

Alderic, now dangerously outnumbered, parries the blows by Cyberman and Gaston. But Paul gets in an Over The Top attack, and his damage overcomes the golden armor! Alderic is slain, defeated in fair(ish) combat.

Image

The Bulls
Commanded by Mr.President

Mr. Skelemancer is like: "wait I didn't know the skelemancing contest had already begun. Cedric, hold my elixir."

He summons two 6creants that obey his commands.

Image

Cedric steps forward, wanting to end the wizard. But they'll need to defeat the heavily armored 6creant first.

Image

All 3 attackers land their blows. The 6creant rolls very high on the d6+d12 armor, but it is not enough to hold off this amount of damage.

Image

Asserting dominace, the skelemancer uses his staff and his last SN d12 to launch a deadly projectile at Luther, killing the wizard.

Image

The Maniac Bull tells his drinking buddy to march on the Black Keep, since they'll probably have even more beer there. The Yellow Tower feels a bit wobbly from all the drinking.

Image

Before they're well underway, the Yellow Tower sees someone destroying perfectly good bricks. He decides to smack the shit out of the Rock Raider.

Image

Cedric sees this raw power and wants to take control. He uses his Heroic Feat to ascend the tower via the arm and give it orders.

Image

The feat doesn't end well. The Tower yeets Cedric into the air like it's nothing.

Image

He comes down in the market square, loses his weapon, and lands on a fish.

"I hate fish"

Image

These 2 bulls enter the red house, hoping to score some loot. It's the wizards' house, who was brewing a potion.

"Smells good. I'll have some"

Image

*BUrp*

"I feel awesome!"

Image

The now green Bull also snatches an awesome magikal battlehammer from the house, and heads for the market square.

His mate has the sense to grab a spellbook from the shelf, in case his mate ever wants his original skincolor back.

Image

Green Bull attacks a civilian, but the old man dodges the warhammer. The other Bull smacks a Brootal in the head.

Image

This Bully attacks another viking. But without the skelemancers blessing, he's no match for the heavy axe.

Image

The Bull Archers then descend the hill and open fire. The heavy axe is no match for two sharp arrows.

Image

The guy who found the technik beam attaches it to his lance and charges at the Dragon Rider.

Image

At the crucial part of the charge, the technik beam disconnects. The attack fails miserably.

Image

The Bull is in range of the Dragon's jaws. The ferocious beast bites the soldier and... rolls extremely poor damage, thus not even wounding the guy.

Image

This prompts the doggo to attack and bite as well. He rolls exceptional damage, but the Dragons' armor is sturdy as fuck.

Image

The Blacktron Commando sprints for the stack of presents, hoping to secure them for extraction. But he whiffs his sprint roll so falls flat on his face.

Image

Asbjørns Plunderers
NPC'd this turn

This viking grabs the heavy axe and destroys McChicken

Image

Asbjørn stabs a disrupted knight but doesn't penetrate the heavy armor

Image

He then uses his Heroic Feat to mount the angry horse and tame it.

Image

He gallops all across town and up the stairs to the Blue Gatehouse. The only other remaining viking follows behind.

Image

The viking enters the Black Keep. He finds the King, laying on the sofa he came to collect. The King is in his... underwear... and doesn't look too healthy.

"Get out, viking scum! Don't you see I'm SOFAKING AWESOME!?"

Image

The viking kicks out the bum of a king.

Image

"Guards! Come to my aid! These wr..."

Image

BOOM

Image

IG-88. Responding.

Image

MEANWHILE

Gary continues cleaning up, this time swooping up some yellow briks that fell into the street.

Image

Dragon Alliance
Commanded by Dienekes

Dracus commands his fel beast to take to the sky and land on top of the bakery.

Image

The dragon spews incredible flames, right onto the market square

Image

The intent was not to kill, but to create a path. The dragonfire destroys a section of roof, and generates a fiery corridor. All the way to the home of Lord Douglas.

Image

No amount of exposure to fiery radiation is ever going to make this mans skin any less pale.

Image

The baker abandons his flaming bakery, managing to save a single piece of delicious pastry

Image

The Dragon makes way, while Gerhard instructs his men to take follow this fiery path towards their goal: to kill Lord Douglas.

Image

These two archers open fire on Douglas first

Image

One of them critfails - he gets too close to the wall of dragonfire and watches his weapon go up in flames.

Image

... the other manages to deal 27 damage with his d6+1 weapon 👀

Image

Not only is Douglas obliterated, there is now also a giant hole in his house. Inside, the 2 brootalz are blown away by the force of the impact.

Image

Gerhard uses his heroic feat to polevault into the air...

Image

Flawlessly into the house!

Image

He sees a lot of carnage and 2 disrupted brootals, who he would like to beat up. His polearm is no use in this small space, so he grabs a bookshelf

Image

He uses the books to smash ninjabroots' brains

Image

Lastly, this ranger joins his buddies. He lost his crossbow earlier, so picks up a brootal sword. Unable to reach any foes with it, he decides to congratulate his buddy with the excellent shot.

Image

...

"You better run, the bakery is about to blow! Don't you know that flour is more explosive than gunpowder!?"

"... what the hell is gunpowder?"

Image

*psshhhhh*

The fire dies out. No exploding bakeries today.

Image

MEANWHILE

Mr. Bizniz and his police escort move up, while he rambles about the forces of rekonstruction and how unstoppable they are. No shots fired yet - the DPD knows better.

Image

Brootalz
Commanded by BrickWarrior

With the wizard dead, skullug prepares to stomp a knight

Image

He critfails his d10 (pssh), instead stepping on a spiked helmet of a fallen green bro. His foot now hurts, impairing his movement.

Image

The broot with the key leaves the house, because he doesn't like books.

"Oi Skullug, help me get to da prisonah wif dis keee!"

Image

"No problem"

Image

"BROOTAAALLZZZZ"

Image

The brootal does not survive the landing. Mission failed? A tiny green hand reaches through the bars and takes hold of the key.

Image

"AYYEEEE, illyoda is freeeee!"

Image

"Sumfin to eat first, and den, brootal brew"

Image

This brootal ends a knight

Image

Mr. Fancypants stabs a Bull to death

Image

The looted spellbook falls into the hands of this civilian. He's scared shitless, and in a blind panic, he reads the first spell on the list.

Image

He transforms into sharkman

Image

Hammerbroot swings his weapon. The shieldblock by the knight is so powerful that the broot is pushed into the fire.

Image

Hammerbroot II is more effective and smashes the knight to bits

Image

This broot gets up and skewers the bravest of knights

Image

The 2 crossbowbroots enter the castle and have a hard time picking their next target. Should they shoot the downed Bull hero? The blokbot? A civilian? One of the dragon rangers?

Image

Brootboy #1 is tempted to try and recruit a civvie for his cause. But the civvie looks like a shark so he shoots it instead. The damage is too little to penetrate the thick shark skin.

Image

Brootboy #2 shoots the Viking chieftain, prompting a norse warrior to redshirt the lethal damage

Image

Unlucky Broot attacks a knight with one of the many turds he found this battle

Image

MEANWHILE

Rock Raider Buccy discovers that he can use his equipment to drill holes in minifigures as well.

Image

Jet fires her weapon at the Yellow Tower but deals far too little damage

Image

Crown Knights
Commanded by me

Despite a -2 to skill, Turdknight manages to chop up his foe.

Now it's official - of all his time on the field, this broot spent two thirds finding two turds.

Image

This knight gets up and looks for an easy target

Image

He manages to disarm the Heavy Axe viking

Image

The viking turns around to pick up the weapon but accidently kicks it further away from himself

Image

This gives the defender the opportunity to pummel him to death

Image

Last Man Standing grabs a new spear and angrily drives it into the Valkyrie

Image

This prompts a response action by the Dungan PD. The officer misses the shot, instead hurting Mr.

FINALE

The sound of trumpets fills the air. Roaring engines and crackling thunder. The earth trembles, trees shake, grasses shiver.

At long last, the Deadly Spacemen have arrived.

Image

"Brikburgh! As awesome a castle you may be, your epic tale must come to end.

One hour has already passed, one month has already gone by, one twelfth of our time has already been wasted.

A new age dawns, a new year has already begun.

It is time for your rekoning!"

Image

The DSM warriors immediately take to the battlefield, some of them armed with the almighty OTC.

Image

Others armed with blasters causing destruction from afar.

Image

The skelemancers minions are no match for the DSM

Image

Neither is he

Image

While 2 DSM keep the sword of the Yellow Tower occupied, the third gathers the parts of the red window

Image

Using his air tanks as a one-use jetpack, he manages to re-instante the Tribute To 375. This paralyzes the Yellow Tower, turning it into a normal brik fortification once again.

Image

Skullug manages to use his swole arms to destroy one of the DSM, proving why he was given the name Dakkafist.

Image

While the Green DSM begins ker-triage, Grey DSM ends the warbaws

Image

The DSM quickly and effectively take control of the market place, ending everyone there

Image

Including the blokbot

Image

Red DSM 2 fires his strange looking gun at the dragon

Image

This transforms the dragon into a frog. The Dragon Rider falls to his death.

Image

Pewmobile fires all weapons at once, showing the Leons what's up.

Image

The Blue Gatehouse falls into the hands of the DSM quickly thereafter.

QS_Cyberman knows better than to fuck with Deadly Spacemen on a friday, so he decides to take off.

Image

"It is done, my brave men. Brikverse 2,022 is in ruins. The carnage is complete, all minifigs have been annihilated, every building is destroyed.

I don't think the brikverse would've recovered from only a partial rekonstruktion - but this place was headed that way. Brikburgh would have been like a shitstain in a beige carpet if that had happened.

So I'm glad we kicked some serious ass here.

Cheers to a wonderful rekonstruction!"

Great battle, kinda like a medieval ZZD. The DSM were kinda party poopers though, it was just getting good. :fist:

Well, that was interesting...

Fun: Gonna score this an 18 out of 20. Lots of strangeness, unusual events, an interesting idea, and a pretty nice build overall.

Violence: 10. Lots of the three "D's" in this one. That is, death, dismemberment, and destruction. Minifigs got stabbed, hammered, sliced, speared, arrowed, squished, and lit on fire.

Photography: I'm rating this an 9. Lots of photos, pretty easy to follow the action, but the focus was a little... off... in some of the pics, and it would be nice to have some kind of background.

Writing: 9 People showed up with various plots and goals, they worked to achieve them, but having the DSM's show up to destroy everything felt kind of like a Deus ex Machina. Not a horrible idea, but a little contrived.

Story: 9 There was one. It was kind of mixed and confused, but essentially it was "everyone is trying to recover something," even at the end when the reduced factions were trying to recover their bearings and goals. I still think having the DSMs show up was contrived, but even they had a purpose in the story.

Lunchbox has been locked out of their account. They've sent their scores to me directly, so I will copypost them here on their behalf.
Lunchboxninja wrote: Fun: 17/20. The concepts were all great, and I loved how the factions interacted.
Violence: 8/10. The multikill from the tower really put this over the top.
Photography: 8/10. I found some of the photos a bit confusing but the gif made it an 8 for sure.
Writing: 7/10. The writing that was there was incredible, but I think some of the factions started feeling slightly samey in their progression (that may be personal bias) but gets a lot of points for the maniac beer moment.
Story: 10/10. Loved the lore tie-ins.

I don't know how to feel about a brootal succeeding at a feat. This has shaken me to the very core of my being.

Beyond causing a mental breakdown at the occurence of the impossible, overall a solid battle with lots of chaos and proper indecision about genre. Unfortunately I speak french so I can't dock points for using a language nobody understands.
