The Kingdom of Kvernia is the dominant force in a so far unknown part of Medivo.
Their military is highly organised and structured, with each minifig assigned a clear designation and combat role.
From left to right:
Antesignani are versatile elite troops able to fight however and whenever they are needed, often used to screen formations, but also capable of holding a battle line.
Hand cannoneers are the main long-ranged units of the Kvernians.
Arcani are hybrid support troops who can fling spells at the enemy at short range and engage in melee.
Excubitores are a small, elite military squad of heavy cavalry based at the capital, often holding positions of importance.
Menaulatoi are pikemen who are surprisingly flexible at performing combat roles other than forming a static line of defense.
Armigeri are resolute swordsmen who are often patrolling the borders.
Lanciari are mobile shock cavalry most often used on the frontiers as a fast response unit to enemy incursions.
Skutatoi are the tough armoured frontline of a Kvernian battlegroup.
Magi are battle mages, usually specialized in either fire or lightning spells.
When Magi are the Heroes on any given day, they usually take off their helmets to be recognizable as such, trusting instead on the forces of Koincidence and their (supposed) importance to the Kanon for protection.
Kvernia is ruled by Queen Karenia II, shown here in full battle gear and wielding her lucky chalice.
- Update 09/07/2023 -
Reinforcements have arrived! (I liked the Kvernian aesthetic too much to leave them as a mid-sized force, so I expanded their ranks.)
Limitanei are part-time soldiers who live and fight on the border. Their task is to slow down invading forces long enough for professional troops to arrive.
Praeventores are stealthy foresters who often work in close tandem with the Limitanei, identifying threats, warning allies, setting traps and springing ambushes on invaders.
Sagitari are mounted archers who mostly function as mobile 'interceptors' in smaller skirmishes or engagements, or take up support roles where needed.
Tagmata cavalry are versatile spear-armed mounted troops, capable of delivering an effective charge and fighting in sustained melee.
Skutatoi axe and sword variants.
New weapon for the menaulatoi. Bigger = better!
Initiati are mages in training. Since they are not able to use magic yet they throw shurikens at the enemy instead.
Foederati are shock troops recruited from people living outside of the borders of Kvernia or non-Kvernians living within the kingdom.
Hetaireia guards are the royals' personal bodyguards, often recruited from foreigners with no ties to any of Kvernia's various factions.
Incarnati are magically augmented warriors, capable of flight and terrifying diving charges.

Re: Kingdom of Kvernia
So much gold!
I think that might be the first design for a brick-built hand cannon I like. The worst one out there was basically that, but without the big cylinder on top of the laser sword hilt.

Thanks.
The candle is definitely necessary - otherwise it's just a wizard's staff without a crystal!
