Cult of The Lord of Edges

Post by KleptocracyNow » Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:31 pm

Yeah, the shtick is a bit generic and it's probably been done before, but eh, I think it's fun.

BLOREB

An army of shrivelled hearts and rotten souls. Born in the darkest corners of twisted minds, the Cultists lurk in the shadows of online art sites, haunting the dreams and realities of those unfortunate enough to encounter them. The goals of The Cult are so secret and mysterious that no one, not even The Lord of Edges, knows them. They simply do what they do, for if they didn't do what they did, who would?

They appear out of nowhere, striking from the shadows or summoned by idle evil thoughts, not fully bound by the rules of space and time. Their arrival is marked by an eerie silence and supernatural coldness... Followed by heat intense enough to burn one's soul.

Their horrific machinery is forged from an alloy of iron and the rare element ossium: doughnut steel. They shamble or slither or cut or charge, but they do not hop. Never has an Edge Cult creation skipped a step, sung a tune, or done a sprightly jig, for the cold donut steel knows no joy.

More fearsome than their technological prowess is their dark artistry of the thaumaturgically corrupt. The Cult are well acquainted with incomprehensible eldritch horrors that warp the mind, and they masters of blood magic and necromancy.

With their forges of doom and revival rituals, they pump out robots and undead alike. Their summoning circles bring demons into this realm, and the online site that shall not be named pumps out true Edgeborn at a steady rate.

With their constant warring and dark rituals, their losses are immense, be it from the blades of their enemies or wrath of their gods.

So how is it, then, that their numbers neither shrink nor swell? Inexplicably, when a Cultist joins, news soon arrive that another of their rank has fallen. When a Cultists sees another perish, they know another will take place. As it has always been, as it will always be, The Cult cult numbers 666, never more or less.

With the constant stream of new blood, and the curdled old blood returning and wreaking havoc on the already strained circulatory system analogy, The Cultists are desensitised to death. With their love of fellow man eroded away, all they have in their hearts is darkness.

SOME INDIVIDUALS

The Lord of Edges
Spoiler

When the last bits of optimism and purity are stripped from a person, what's left in the husk?

To most, The Lord is merely the shadow of a person. To The Cult, however, this shadow is the ultimate life form. What better representation of reality is there than cold, calculating machine? The Lord of Edges, of course.

The Lord is no empty husk. They are a robot of extraordinary intelligence, created to feel every negative emotion. Their reality is sorrow, pain, fury, and hatred. They exist to suffer and make others suffer.

Rumour has it, if they were to leave their palanquin and go into battle, The Lord would be an unstoppable force, a beast so fierce they could tear the universe asunder. Yet, though their hatred knows no bounds, their misery is greater still. Day in and day out, they sit in their throne, contemplating the futility of existence.

The Lord Minifig
-Great Leader
-Minifig Tool

Edge Minifig (Palanquin Carrier)
-Light Weapon

No one knows who or what is behind the mask of this mysterious figure, but much like a real bird, they spend their time brooding.

You might want to look behind you when fighting Penumbirb. They've been known to appear behind people, cutting them with their blade wrought from the whimpers of a kicked puppy.

Mechanics:

-Hero
-Light armour
-Heavy weapon
-Light shield

This pun isn't as clever as I like to pretend it is. She has a sword, though. Swords are good.

I was actually introduced to Brikwars by a cool sword lady.

But not this one.

Mechanics:

-Specialty: Compensation
-Takes damage from water: Dies instantly if fully submerged, takes d6 from getting sprayed with water, d4 per turn while wet until they use something to dry off or 3 turns have passed (excluding the turn they got wet)
-Not harmed by logic paradoxes but irritated by them
-Default action die, 5 Armour, 5'' Move
-Pictured here with a 3'' Melee Weapon

The Stoneheart Cybernetic Enhancement Pack® offers a complete overhaul of the user's body, including: Lots of weapons, actuators to move all those weapons, an exoskeleton to bear the weight of the weapons, artificial organs to let your body handle the stress of being upgraded with all these weapons...

The Stoneheart Cybernetic Enchancement Pack® also comes with several cybernetic brain implants capable of performing octillions of calculations a zeptosecond. Unfortunately, due to an error in their programming, they spend almost all of their time playing checkers against each other, leaving the user with very little benefit. Still, it's marginally better than having a normal brain... We think.

-Short Ranged Weapon
-Heavy Weapon
-3'' Gun
-Rocket (XSize 5)
-Targeting computer (Lets Cyrus use a 3d4 instead of a d6 for the action of firing the rocket but is otherwise too busy playing checkers)

SOME TYPES OF FOLKS IN THE CULT

Acolyte

These are a dime a dozen. They chant sacred chants of evil, keep The Lord's edges sharp and barbed wire hedges trimmed, scrub the restroom floors, shoot good guys, take out the trash (wait I just said that one). Whatever it is you need, they've got you covered.

Mechanics:

Equipment pictured here:
-Leftmost Minifigs
--XSize 1 explosives (normal or incendiary)

-Left Minifigs
--Two handed weapon

-Right Minifigs
--Short ranged weapon

-Rightmost Minifigs
--Hand weapon

Zombie

Thanks to The Cult's mastery of necromancy, these zombies retain their minds from before they died. This, of course, only serves to fill them with violent anger at the state they're in.

Do they count towards the 666? Who knows!

Mechanics:

-Minifig Tool
-Cannon Fodder
Psychopomp

The Cult's preferred method of transportation is by some variety of coffin, be it a flying coffin or a coffin on wheels. It's only fitting that these death wishes in vehicle form be piloted by someone who's already dead.

Most people might find wearing a skull helmet and skeleton themed clothing as a skeleton a bit redundant. But then again, most people don't get to pilot The Cult's vehicles, so who's really winning here?

Mechanic

-Pilot
Biker of the Brikpocalypse

Ride or die? Ridiculous. Why choose one when you can do both!

Much like how people who spend their life on ships feel landsick when they're on solid ground, these riders spend so much of their life on a bike, horse etc. they can barely function

Mechanics:

-Depicted here with a size 1'' machinegun
-Action: d6 when on a Horse, d4 with incompetence otherwise
-Move: 4''
-Armour: 4
-Specialties:
--Horsemanship
--Drive-by
---This specialty can only be used on a horse. If the mini has unspent move inches at the end of their move phase, they can spend up to 4 of them at the end of their Action phase instead. The choice to do so must be made before the Action phase. The only action a mini can take on the turn it uses this specialty is using its weapon, and it cannot go Over the Top or achieve a Critical Damage Roll.
---Yes, I know this ability has the potential to be bullshit OP, I intend to treat this unit as more valuable than a regular-ass rider
--Potential nerf (tbd): This ability can not be used on consecutive turns

As any of its wielders will tell you, it's not a phase (gun). This orange-beam-firing weapon should be referred to as a portable death ray, a more generic term that prevents association with a popular science fiction franchise.

You know what they say: a death ray a day keeps the Paramount lawyers at bay.

Mechanics:

-When it comes to carrying rules, it's treated as a 1.5'' ranged weapon
-Firing it is a full turn action
-Use 3, Range 6'', Damage 3d4

Soul Scruncher
Spoiler
Show
Image
It's uhhh... Yeah. It rips out your soul. Like, straight up tears it out of your body. Then it scrunches it up like paper. Hurts like a bitch, too. Like a million stubbed toes. Or getting cut on a piece of paper. It's awful. And then, when your soul's so scrunched up? It shoots it out. Like a... Paper... Ball. And you can feel it all the way through, too, y'know? It's like... You're your soul, right? So you feel what your soul feels. Which is being scrunched up into a ball and shot at people. Or sometimes at a in a random direction for the lightshow. Imagine having your soul scrunched up just to be turned into a glorified firework. Shit sucks, man. Don't ever get your soul scrunched up.

Mechanics:

-When it comes to carrying rules, it's treated as a 1.5'' ranged weapon
-Acts like a normal Two Handed Melee Weapon in melee combat
-Has limited ranged ammo, there's no cap to how much it can hold
-Normally starts the battle with 1 ammo
-Melee kills provide ammo at a rate for 1 per kill
-Ranged stats:
-Use: 2 Range: 6''
-Using it does not use up an action, but it can only be used once per turn
-Does no physical damage, phases through physical parts without a Mind
-When it hits the part of a Creation with a Mind, it does d4 of psychic damage to it, with the Mind's armour being determined by its action die
-This function much like normal damage does: If the d4 matches the mind's armour roll, Something Bad happens to the Mind, and if the d4 exceeds it, the Mind is killed, though the Creation itself remains intact
-If a Creation has multiple Minds, the shooter can choose which mind to attack

-9'' Cannon
-idk about the rest of the stats but it's 9''

Variant B:

Armed with missiles for all your missile needs. Or maybe they're rockets, I haven't decided yet.

Due to the relatively small size of the cult and the difficulty of maintaining and operating these, the cult doesn't keep more than one of each type around, they do replace them on the rare occasion they are destroyed.

Mechanics:

Variant A
-Armament
--Primary
---6'' Cannon (Armour piercing ammo stored in the base of the turret)
--Secondary
---2 x Long Ranged Weapon
---2 x Autogun
-Primary Mind
--3d4 Action Dice

Variant B
-Armament
--Primary:
---3 x Rocket
--Secondary
---3 x Short Ranged Weapon
---Flamegun
-Primary Mind
-d6 Action Die

Both
-Size: 5'' (I know weapons and limbs aren't supposed to be structural but they're a massive part of its size and without them it came out at like 2.5'' and with them it's more like 8''-ish in a natural pose (so, like, no outstretched legs) so I roughly averaged it out)
-Weight Class: 3
-Movement: 7'', Manoeuvrable
-Primary Mind:
--Location: Central computer found in the core part of the body
-Secondary Mind
--d4 Action Die
--Location: Defence computer found in the core part of the body
--Half-mind, Programmed:
---Use the secondary weapons to attack any enemies of the Cult of The Lord of Edges that get into secondary weapons range, always avoid self damage, avoid friendly fire unless necessary to protect the Deathwalker
