Alternatively, the players goals could be semi-unrelated, so instead of two teams trying to get the same McGuffin, the goal of the game is to complete your objective before your opponent does.

What do you think about tweaking it a little and adding reveal powers? Like:
  • Protect the enemy Hero, 30pts

Reveal this card to add +1d6 to the Hero's Redshirt roll against a single attack. You may Redshirt one of your own units if necessary. Usable once only.
So you get a little boost to your goal, but now everyone knows what your quest is.

Hey I really like that idea! It requires that I print all the cards again, but eh I guess I have to make more anyway.

I like capture and defend missions. Also works if the thing to be captured/stolen is a vehicle, and everyone else is on foot. Especially if the vehicle has blind spots, or needs multiple pilots/gunners. Forced inter-player cooperation is also fun, for whatever reason. Similarly, allies with conflicting intentions also provides good entertainment.

I like the cooperation idea in particular.. and the necessary-for-a-time aspect makes inevitable betrayal all the sweeter.

Man, this thread is inspirational.

The BrikwaRPGs have all been fun because a lot of times the players have troubles working together.

Which is the nice way of saying they'll kill each other for the fun of it if they thought they could get away with it.

Competitive Hunting:
X monsters have been spotted roaming this area. Whichever team bags the biggest monster wins. Points are scored based on the calculated CP of each monster.

Well, I've unskillfully combined Bluebright's general idea, along with Stubby's suggestions.. it's not fantastic, and it hasn't been playtested yet, but it might be worth looking at: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13591

We usually have 4-7 people per game so it can get cramped and hectic quick. So we are designing a new game which involves 2 tables, each covered with various terrain types and a Planet Gate (sorta like a stargate) on each table. Each table is in a seperate room, and you can only see a table you have troops on (you can also transport troops via Starfighters, Ships, etc., they just take multiple turns to reach the other table, decided by a D6 role). A D4 role is made to determine if transported successfully by Planet Gate (they can be tempermental). There is lots of buildings, various terrains, and secret land mines and other explosives set throughout the map for maximum mayhem. Overall opjective can be either CTF, Deathmatch, or Domination.

Urban combat is always fun, what with all the apartment buildings and easily concealed ambush locations.
