Oh no thanks, it haunts my nightmares.
Luckily after about 1 year my cable company had internet available !

The houses I grew up in 1960s 70s 80s all had a wall mounted rotary phone.
When I moved out I got an At&T push button phone.
It worked great for about 13 years and I needed a new phone in 1997.
It had an answering machine woohoo! I had just become self employed and you need one of those.
That one lasted about ten years and I went to Walmart looking for a phone and the only push button phones they had were giant button old man with vision problems phones, so I got one, 2007ish.
All the damn kids were using cell phones so not many normal phones to pick from.
My vision is just fine.

You should get a backup for the one you have now. I don't know how much longer you're going to be able to find those for.
