Maeby's Cannon: A gift for Colette

Karl cleaned the beakers fervently. As a prince, he was unused to this sort of labour. He couldn't trust any of his men for this task however.

"Are you finished yet?" Colette asked. Karl turned around to face her lithe figure. She was a pale, yellow skinned woman, her arms as fragile and thin as the glass he was holding. "In a minute" he said, as he rushed to dry the sterilized equipment.

Colette sighed, annoyed. Even as a lab assistant, she deserved better than this oafish prince to help her. Still, his constant affection made him much more charming than the cold, selfish people she spent her former life with. Karl was charmed with Colette's small frame. Whereas Bavarian women were closer to his stature, Colette was more than a foot shorter and skinny as a snake. His mind focussed on this size difference, which made his sense of inadequacy vanish. Unfortunately, this small amount of happiness wouldn't last for either of them.

Bullets blew Colette apart. Her insides painted the makeshift lab. Karl gasped in horror, unable to stop a Jaeger from slicing her head into five even pieces. The other Jaeger was content to blast the carcass with a heavy machine gun, destroying every part of it. Karl drew his luger and fired at them both in frustration. He emptied the clip, screaming in rage at his guards.

They merely stood, and waited until he was finished. He collapsed to the floor, more broken than he had been at the battle of New Brockton. The Jaegers picked him up, and carried him out of the building, leaving an incendiary grenade behind to destroy the evidence left.

As Karl hit and cursed them both to hell, one of them reported the job done. This was never to be mentioned again.
