An Artifakt Arsenal - Finished

Legendary archeologist Tony Junder and his crew are searching for an ancient artifakt, hidden somewhere beneath the hot sands...

"Keep digging! We'll get that artifakt!"

"This is the spot, I'm sure of it!"

"The crew across the lake are making good progress towards the second artifakt as well."

"Someone built a gas station on top of the third artifakt, but we'll find it!"

Suddenly the archeologists' balloon lookout spots something.

"Uh oh... Tony, we've got company!"

The Acquiriens have arrived!

Image

Annabella Anning leads the expedition.

"Good work, archeologists! We'll take it from here! We'll take all of those artifakts, too!"

From the other direction, the Knights of the Square Table arrive.

Image

Good King Auris himself leads the army, flanked by Lady Leonora and Sir Dracus.

"Our holy quest has reached its goal!" King Auris says. "These sacred artifakts cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of heathens and barbarians! Charge!"

Factions

Archeologists - Falk

The Acquiriens - Klaktrak

Knights of the Square Table - Cracjaw

Secret Faction - lordintype

Civilians - NPC

Objectives

The goal for all factions is to unearth and control the three artifakts. Whichever faction has the most artifakts in their possession at the end of the battle is the winner!

The battle will last for 5 turns.

Digging for Artifakts

There are three dig sites: One on each beach, and one at the gas station. Each dig site holds an artifakt.

Artifakts can be unearthed by minifigs as an action. This requires a skill roll of 6 or higher. A fig gets a +1 bonus if they're using an appropriate tool, and a +1 bonus for each previous attempt at that dig site.

A faction can only make one attempt per dig site each turn, but several factions could potentially dig at the same site in the same turn.

Audience Participation!

Anyone who isn't playing one of the major factions can control one civilian minifig each turn! Simply post in the thread what you want your chosen civilian to do. You don't have to control the same civilian each turn or anything (unless you want to).

Turn 1

Initiative order was determined randomly.

Civilians

The children are quite excited about their ice cream.

"ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM! YAAAY!"

This is what the ice cream lady's been listening to all summer. She's just about fucking had it.

She throws an ice cream cone at the boy, hoping to brain him.

Image

But with the natural instinct for sweets that all children have, he deftly catches it.

"Hey, how come you get two cones?!" the girl says.

Archeologists

Image

The balloon moves towards the Acquiriens, and strafes the Collector Cruiser with its machine gun.

It manages to knock off one SP, leaving eight.

Tony Junder puts two fingers to his lips, and whistles!

His loyal horse comes running.

Image

Tony mounts up, and he and his crew head towards the Acquiriens. They take cover behind the ice cream stand, and fire away!

Tony kills an Acquirien, and the two-gun lady on the roof gets another.

Image

Two of the archeologists at the gas station hop into their car, and drive towards the Knights of the Square Table. Their guns are out of range for now, but they prepare response fire.

The Mechanik disassembles the gas pumps, getting herself a big heap of briks to build something more useful...

At the opposite side of the battlefield, the archeologists lay down some very impressive fire against the dragon! They wound it badly, taking away three SP. The dragon is left with just one!

The three diggers keep working at the dig sites. One of them strikes something metallic...

"Hey, what's this?"

Image

"Woah! Cool!"

It's the Omnislayer Sword! This deadly weapon deals 2d6 damage in melee, with a damage bonus equal to the Size of the target. So against a Size 1 minifig it would do 2d6+1 damage, but against, say, a Size 9 spaceship, it would be 2d6+9 damage!

Knights of the Square Table

The catapult fires, aiming for the archeologists at the ice cream stand.

Hitting a small target like a minifig with a catapult stone is quite difficult, though. It's just the ice cream stand that gets smashed.

"Hiyah!"

Sir Dracus gallops through the campers' barbecue, accompanied by the archers.

The archeologists and the archers exchange bullets and bolts. One archer hits the car while aiming for the driver, but doesn't do any damage. Then she gets shot.

King Auris advances in stately fashion towards the central dig site, followed by his minifigs-at-arms.

Lady Leonora charges!

Image

"For the King!"

She spits an archeologist upon her lance.

Image

The enraged dragon burns another to a crisp.

The Acquiriens

Image

The Collector Cruiser turns, and returns fire at the balloon.

Image

One SP is blasted off. The balloon is left with four.

Image

The ground troopers also target the balloon.

Image

Two more SP are lost, and two remain.

Image

Annabella Anning engages Tony Junder!

Image

But when attacking him, she just ends up killing his horse.

"Whoops!"

"My horse! You dirty, rotten - "

"Don't bring it to a fight if you care so much about it!"

The retrieval vehicle moves forward. It knocks over a picnic table, and flattens an archeologist. His dynamite falls on the ground, unused...

The vehicle approaches the central dig site, the robot Mechanik sprinting behind.

Just then, something stirs in the ground. A skeletal hand breaks the surface.

The ancient Pharaoh Nephren-Kra has arisen!

"What is this now? Thieves and looters, trying to seize my family heirlooms? Such insolence."

"My court shall have to destroy them."

More skeleton claw their way out of the ground.

A massive sphinx guardian emerges as well.

Pharaoh Nephren-Kra

The sphinx attacks the Acquirien retrieval vehicle, but fails to damage it due to abysmal rolls.

Pharaoh Nephren-Kra leads his court towards King Auris' force.

"You build and build, but eventually, all turns to dust..."

The equipment of the minifigs-at-arms turns to dust!

Image

The skeletons fall upon the disarmed minifigs. Nephren-Kra kills one, and another is shot by his archer.

The skeleton Mechanik examines the information sign.

"Hmm... 'Scholars believe that this area was home to some kind of early civilization in ancient times, but by all accords, it cannot have been very advanced...' What is this slander?!"

The Acquiriens

Image

The space scooter deploys from the Collector Cruiser.

Image

Both the scooter and its mothership targets the archeologist balloon.

Image

The balloon goes down! The gases inside ignite...

Image

...and explode!

Image

The balloon pilot is killed, along with the operator of the claw on the retrieval vehicle, and one of the picnicers.

The Acquiriens on the ground target the archeologists, but they are well protected by their cover. The ice cream stand gets blown apart some more.

Image

The retrieval vehicle rams the digger at the central dig site, killing him.

Image

The Collector Cruiser lowers itself over the lake, sending the swimmers fleeing.

Image

The excavator specialist disembarks.

Image

He starts digging, but doesn't unearth anything just yet.

Image

Annabella Anning throws her hyperblade at Tony Junder!

Image

"Tony! Nooo!"

An archeologist jumps in the way, and gets skewered.

Image

Then Annabella fires a laser shot straight into the hilt, supercharging the blade...

...with gory results.

Civilians

Image

The ice cream lady has prepared her sharpest cone, but realizes that her target is already down.

"Dangit! I wanted to pop that balloon!"

"I'll get you for stealing my kills!"

She throws the ice cream cone at the space scooter.

Image

The cone pierces the engine!

Image

The scooter spins out of control and crashes, killing the pilot.

Archeologists

Image

The Mechanik builds a flamethrower from the gas pump briks.

Image

The guy who unearthed the Omnislayer Sword starts running.

Image

Thanks to a good sprint roll, he gets pretty far.

Image

The car rams Sir Dracus' horse, wounding it!

Image

Then the archeologists open fire at Sir Dracus, but hit his horse instead, and the bullets finish it off. Sir Dracus is thrown out of the saddle.

Tony drops his weapons, and advances on Annabella.

"All right, we'll settle this with our fists! Put 'em up!"

"Really?"

Image

"Don't bring a fist to a gunfight, dummy!"

Tony narrowly avoids the lasershot, but he's feeling pretty stupid.

The gal on the roof fires away at the Acquiriens, but she misses.

Image

This archeologist fires at Lady Leonora, but the dragon handler leaps in the way, and gets killed.

The two archeologists then jump on the trike...

...and drive away.

Knights of the Square Table

King Auris charges!

Image

But his lance misses, and the excavator's suit protects him from the impact of the horse.

The minifigs-who-are-no-longer-armed try to follow their King, but one of them is cut down by a skeleton as he runs.

The last survivor steals the chair of the sunbathing chick.

"I need this more than you!"

Image

She tries to smash a skeleton with the chair. She fails.

Image

Sir Dracus takes out a precious relik... the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch!

"Rejoice, heathens, for I shall blow you to kingdom come!"

He throws the Holy Hand Grenade into the archeologist car.

HALLELUJAH!

Image

The archeologists are blown to bits. Both the car and the nearby camper lose one SP, leaving them with three each.

The archer moves up.

"Impressive, sire. I don't even have any targets left!"

Image

Meanwhile at the catapult...

"That flying ship shot down the balloon! I wanted to shoot that!"

"Forsooth! We'll get them for that!"

The catapult targets the Collector Cruiser!

Image

And misses, clipping a tree instead. The crew might need retraining, that was an easy shot!

Lady Leonora pursues the archeologists!

She impales one on her lance.

Image

The dragon gives chase as well, but being badly wounded it can't fly very fast.

The Mechanik mills about.

Image

While the central dig site is hotly contested, this one is all but abandoned. Don't forget, there's an artifakt hidden here as well!
