Po'n Empire Infantry

Postby Flashplopavenger » Fri Dec 23, 2011 11:50 am

For now, there's only this Assault Mech. I'll be coming back with more infantry types and such. I'm contemplating making either a pick-a-brick order or something from Bricklink to augment my army. I'll also be writing up a back story. 'Cause they're awesome.

Just so you know, though, this isn't currently built. These are old pictures, so I can't get you any better views.

I quite like this. Is there anything else holding those gatling barrels together apart from friction?

No, not really. I suppose that's all that holds any pair of bricks together, though.

I actually used this guy's design, who in turn found it from some other dude I don't know:
http://universe.lego.com/en-us/community/creationlab/displaycreation.aspx?id=e9cb3679-dbc8-4464-a481-82189f4f9068&memberId=4f71eaa0-105d-d1be-ba33-59726a440597

It seems to be a fairly wide-spread technique.

It's as hard as fruitcake to get them all together without it blowing to pieces, but once you get them all together it works fairly well. Just make sure you use the right tire piece.

Indeed, the Gatling Gun is most impressive, and I'd love to be able to build one if it was a legal build...

...Aw, it isn't.

How can a build be illegal?

Well, it's a term the Lego Group uses to describe building techniques they do not recommend.
Basically, since tires aren't suppose to be used as rubberbands, it's illegal since the stress could snap the tire.

Hey, he asked me how a build could be "Illegal" and I answered!

I probably wouldn't it build it then, especially since I couldn't do it in LDD first, but I've got nothing against other people using it.

It's OK, thanks for explaining it. You could just buy the parts on pab and then build it IRL.

Well I'm not comfortable with illegal building techniques like that, I've got enough trouble with bricks cracking with the legal methods as is.

Your much is awesome, and you should reassemble it if possible. Which reminds me, I need to reassemble some things of my own.

It's not stretched very much - just enough to ensure the cohesiveness of the gun. Probably not enough to snap it, unless you left it on the shelf like that for ages. (Which, as you say, damages even legally connected elements.)

Work on its main frame, despite that, looks pretty cool!
