The Industrial Revolutionaries were content with the First Emperor .
He was fair and let local leaders run the planet of Noirbell, while letting the local artisans use their famous steam technology to mine crystals at rates still unmatched by robotic machines. However, during a power struggle within the Galactic Federation which their Emperor was affiliated with, he was executed brutally and the Federation appointed an advisor to control the sector for an untold amount of time.
Under Federation doctrine, their very way of life became a crime, and many of them were forced into camps to be digitally tagged and brainwashed. In a bout of rage, a Captain Duncan donned the ancient steamborg armor that had been passed down for centuries and began to unite the local Thains in a force the Galactic News would coin the "Industrial Revolutionaries."
From that point they traveled from sector to sector on hijacked cargo freighters, mercilessly slaughtering and ravaging any outpost they found, acquiring any gun tank or mech they didn't destroy, snowballing into a well armed bloodthirsty force to be reckoned with.
