mega bloks vs lego

Postby Aslocate » Mon Jan 28, 2013 4:32 pm

So I was playing my first game of brik wars with a friend, and my army was composed fully of halo mega bloks. As you may know, mega bloks are larger than legos, and my army was soon defeated due to its large units. I started this post to point out the pros and cons of mega bloks.

HERESY
Infantry may be the Queen of battle, but Armor is the chastity belt that keeps that bitch from getting snuggled.

I think that to balance the largeness of megabloks, they should either critfail on both 1's and 2's or just have d4s for skill, to show their shittiness

Bring a magnifying glass next time. Start to burn him or his units.

The former is preferable.

Build fast units and use MK missiles. That should even it out.

I think the best thing about Mega Bloks is that you can melt them down and remold them into cool things.

Not entirely accurate, opinion, incomplete assessment.

In comparison to Lego, customization is lacking. Which isn't the same thing as a complete lack. Especially among the newer toys, MB is trying for enhanced customizability.

Halo and WoW figs look bitchin to a lot of people, including this guy. And I hate WoW with an intense passion. Besides, new MB figures are of a completely different design (action figure oriented) which is preferable to some (I could go either way on this one).

Quality of molds in MB products has advanced significantly in recent years...nothing beginning to approach lego's impeccable quality...but they stay together now.

Let's call a thing what it is.

Why are we still on this anyway? OP wasn't prompting a debate about which is superior, despite post title. We know that Lego is superior, its obvious. Question was, how to handle them rules wise.

In all seriousness, I have been considering picking up some of the old Mega Blocks Dragon Knights off of Ebay. There are lots of like 20 of them going for about $10.

They're cheap because they're shitty.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that you can't make them a zombie-like faction in a forum battle or something.

In my dark ages I almost bought the Halo MB simply because they offered a lot of figures for a cheap price. I never had a lot of figs when I was a kid so coming out of my DA that was a big priority for me. Luckily I didn't succumb.

My aunt and uncle bough us those crappy mb castles for Saturnalia one year. We built them and had like 30 figs and played with them but the weapons wouldn't stay in their hands and then those hands broke off and the leg joints were shit. I still have 3 of those dragons though. They're pretty cool, honestly.
