Steampunk MMO

Gatheryn
It caught my eye when I read this quote:
“Gatheryn welcomes players into a world where steam powers everything from vehicles to mechanical monkeys, and mystery enshrouds a romantic landscape reminiscent of Charles Dickens’ Victorian London.”

There's supposed to be sign-ups in December for the Closed Beta, and then an Open Beta next year. I'm definitely keeping a close eye on this game.

Looks interesting. And, you know, Steampunk.

How did you find it?
Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.

I clicked on one of the news items and got this.

No violence.

How can you have an MMORPG without violence? Ew, but it might be good anyway.

I just saw an article on Kotaku.

As for the non-violence thing, I get the idea that this is a puzzle-type game, directed at a casual audience (as I previously mentioned) so it won't be an intense steampunk game, but hopefully it'll be moderately entertaining.

Meh. Sounds a little like myst, only multiplayer. I guess they are concentrating on the puzzle-solving community.

Worth keeping an eye on though...

NECRO TIME!

I necroed this because 7 months after signing up for the newsletter, I finally got an e-mail. I just finished registering an account, which doesn't gaurantee me a spot for the Open Beta, but gives me more consideration over others.

They also re-did the website, which contains pretty pictures and other fluff.

EDIT: I just realized that Open Beta registration is open to everyone. If you're interested, hurry your ass up!

I just looked at the website and signed up. Still looks interesting, and I think I'm warming up to the idea of a focus off of bloodshed.

OK registered.

I thought this was interesting:
"You acknowledge that Mindfuse may, in its discretion, charge a fee for the Beta Materials and/or participation in the Beta Program, and your continued participation in the Beta Program is contingent on your payment of such fee(s)"
Its not definite, they are leaving the option open.
Even more odd since the game is supposed to be free to play
"Gatheryn is a free-to-play advanced casual MMORPG from Mindfuse Games"

regeisterd

maybe they will charge for the beta but once its fully out then they wont
you know the whole "charge for a preview" sort of thing.
I've got into betas before I've beta tested a Aeria game called megaten its out of beta now.
http://megaten.aeriagames.com/

Aeria currently have 4 games in the beta stage.

oh and the "social" games on Aeria are mainly fighting based but with more emoticons and stuff.
"some people are like slinkies there really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs"
"Triangalism! What's the fuckin' point!"

How's that compression ratio?

I got into the Fallen Earth beta and the Dungeons and Dragons Online beta. Both were pretty amusing, especially Fallen Earth. Just wish I had gotten into Champions Online when it was still going.
