Rank seems to formal and IMO knob like, what's wrong with Hero-ising them when they do something AWESOME!? Then allowing various character progressions and skill bonuses that they pay for with experience points earned doing cool stuff in battle. There are systems out there that have been well tried and tested in RPG's and such.
maybe we can use titles instead of ranks. titles are cool but don't really do anything. for example the title of jesus goes to a fig that can't be killed. that was used on one of my men who did a backflip off an exploding transport, landing on the back of a missille carrier. from there i attempted to suicide him by having him ram a grenade into the missille, but someone how he survived the blast and went prone on the ground (good thing he was laying down becuase a tank rolled across him). then right after standing up he manged to block a sniper bullet with his skull. my friend finally decided to crash a plane into him just to take him out.
LEGION- fear it

I think there is a difference between Custom Title and Custom Rank...

My official post number 1000 was "The whole battle?"

This is true. When Jacob wrestled with God (Genesis 32:24-32), all that happened was he popped a hip. Jesus probably wouldn't even bother wrestling somebody until all his skin had already been scourged off and he had both hands nailed behind his back. And even then he'd pop at least TWO hips.
