Movie poster

Post by OneEye589 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 9:01 pm

For computer design class we had to create a movie poster in Photoshop for a made up movie. I chose a zombie movie called "ZED."

The actual thing is 11"x17".

Looks pretty good just lacks a bit of panache that most posters have, think its the background.
Been here longer then pretty much all of you or some shit.

Thanks guys.

The project was due today and I had worked my ass off to get it done by now. I'm probably gonna add some "grunge" around the edges of the background and add some contrast. Right now I think the difference makes the people pop out quite a lot, which is good in my opinion.

Btw, what's that gun he's/you're holding? It looks like the front of an M16 attached to the back of an AK-47. :?

It's a BB-gun that I have that just happens to be the closest looking thing to a machine gun.

I like but you need to add a few explosions and gunships then make the guy at the front (You?) looks like he's just walking through a park, try running or firing the gun in a M.L. Ponies way

Yeah, darken and break up the cleanness of the presentation, through use of scratches, rips, dirt, blood or pyrotechnics.

The person in front isn't me, just so y'all know.

I didn't want to draw attention to the background, as it's a movie and most of the time movie posters draw more attention to the characters, not the backgrounds. It's also hard to make explosions and stuff if you don't have the pictures for it, especially seeing as this class is the first time I've ever used Photoshop (we can only use our own photographs, as taking any other images would be plagiarism).

I am in the process of gritty-ing up the edges and such, but it's taking a bit too much of the background away, we'll see how it works out.

Yea, but it's all so realistic, I don't want to go and make some cartoony looking explosion in the blocked background anyway. There's not even anything there to blow up.

Nice work!

The shadows under the people are too dark and the edges are too sharp.

The shadow under the car is following the wheel curve, which can't actually happen.

You took control of the red in the title and dropped the saturation, good, but you may have gone too far. Try making it a bit more saturated.
