Fall of the Justicar

Postby BrickSyd » Mon Mar 29, 2010 10:32 pm

This is a battle fought with a friend of mine (he played as the Sons of Akurreya). I provided both armies and I played as the Order of the Equinox. There was a small third faction that was controlled a bit by both of us and a lot by the dices. We did not care about a balanced battle.

I set up a terrain, made up a little scenario during the afternoon and we played in the evening. The battlefield was a bit small but the battle was quite long (not too long) even though we did not use a huge number of units.

Intro
Karl Kashnick visited Titan Starships to see the progress in the development of the vulture. The last report did not convince him and he wanted to see by himself. The vulture was a special request from the Order of the Equinox that was designed to fill a new role within their fleet: The capability to reinforce or reconfigure modular ships on the field. The first prototype was almost ready to fly but Kashnick did not liked it. "We never asked for this fat tin can! You are wasting our time and money!" he said. His first officer pointed out that the current design offered poor maneuverability, rendering the vulture too vulnerable in a dogfight, that most of the storage was inadequate and insisted that the final product would be too expensive. They had to start from scratch.

On their way back to Noxar, Karl First Officer was in command while Karl was whining about Titan Starships. As they where getting close to Noxar, a small meteorite hit the Justicar, blowing up most of the left wing and taking out the communication systems. Propulsion systems were heavily damaged and the crew lost control of the ship while heading toward the planet surface.
Image

Despite the pilots effort, Justicar crashed in the middle of a forest. Karl and a pilot were injured and the navigator died. The rest of the crew was allright. Karl first officer activated the buoy from his radio hoping that their closest base would get it and send a ship to pick them up but the closest outpost was quite far from their current position. The medic treated Karl injuries using the medical material they where carrying while the two heavy infantry were getting ready to go out and secure the crash site.

A hungry teddywok clan noticed the impact and are approaching!

The Teddywok were getting close when incoming ships were detected near the crash site.

Two Akurrean ships enter the area!

Epic. You should do another scenario where the Equinox people try to break Karl out.

Whoa... that was really cool. I liked the idea of spaceships being able to switch between surface and space operations. What are your rules for the torpedoes, by the way?
Just one random act of violence can brighten your day. Especially if it involves explosives.

Our rules for the torpedoes were that the pilot need to win a skill roll against to other pilot to lock the target and fire. The next turn, we rolled a dice to know which side of the ship would be hit. The defender then removed bricks according to the torpedo damage (in that case 4D6 for each torpedo).

Dude, read his location. I know you said you forgive him, but read before you post. I was in a French immersion program for 3 years, still rock in core French classes, but I know if I went to Quebec I'd sound like a tard with the French I speak.

Anyways, awesome battle. The taking off and landing was a really cool concept, and it turned out really well too. I also like the Teddywoks, I like having a third faction interfering with the other two's conflict. The bit of backstory was good too, that's something else that's good in battles.

Great battle, hope to see some more. :D
