In other other news, Jarl Ulfrik's just some spoiled jock. Friggin' ponce. It is very satisfying to jump on the heads of dragons and smack them to death. Lastly: the return of the dwemer!

My character now has a full suit of Dwemer armor and weapons, all of which I have enchanted to give elemental-based damage or protection and have improved quality thanks to the 20+ Dwemer metal ingots I found. Basically, I love Dwemer stuff (at least until I can get ebony armor...).

It's always bizarre to see him not being extremely scathing about something for once.

Hitting a guard in the knee should be an auto-crit, in my eyes.

Pro tip:
You can cast Magelight on your follower and it will float over his head.
Then you can still cast Magelight on the terrain without losing the first one.

Followers generally suck.

It is really interesting though.

Yeah, followers can be useful at lower levels, but against bosses they get fried pretty quickly. My first companion was the elf-guy at Riverwood and he got killed by a Draugr Deathlord. Then I got Lydia turned into an ash pile by a dragon priest...

Well followers can only die if YOU kill them by accident.
When hit point go to zero they take a knee, but can't be killed.
If they then get hit by you with some fire for example, they will die.
Or maybe get caught in a fireball blast from an enemy or you.

They do get in the way often, but are good to have around to take away some enemy attention for a while.
Especially if you are a squishy mage.
So even if they do go down, those few seconds while they were up gave you the time to thin the enemy ranks.

My latest character may be my new favorite (eclipsing even the retard Grognak the Green and his more eloquent cousin Bragnak the Brown)...

A redguard, hating water and sailing and the heat, wandered off to Skyrim. He ended up with some whiny rebels and was about to be executed. Upon several attempts to tell the dumfounded Nord working the execution list his name, the Nord just shrugged and wrote "Iben." Goddamn barbarians. All was going well, except that the Imperials skipped the guy they wanted dead to kill some angry rebel (a man after Iben's own heart) and then allowed the execution to delay further because of some angry dragon. Some running and some fire later, it was clear he had a choice to make: the head-block happy Imperials or the whiney why-me Stormcloaks. After standing around for a few minutes, looking for option C (Oblivion with this I'm out), the dragon landed and camp tromping after Iben, forcing him to escape with Mr. Sorry-Just-Following-Orders.

Some more running, stabbed some Stormcloaks that were all sword-happy, killed some spiders (blech) and a bear (pelt!), and off to visit his rustic blacksmith uncle.

On second that, Oblivion with that, time to go anywhere but 'You should join the legion that tried to kill you" kid's summer village. So, wearing His Last Clean Shirt, Iben set off to find a decent vacation in Skyrim.
